RAF Halton trenches

Trenches at RAF Halton have been excavated so people can experience the life of a soldier in World war I.
To prepare for the Great War, frontline troops were shown how to dig trenches at the Buckinghamshire base and taught how to survive.
A century later school children are being invited to tour the restored site.
It is hoped it will give students a better understanding of the harsh reality of living in the trenches.
The training trenches were used by soldiers before going to the Battle of the Somme.
About 20,000 soldiers were taught survival skills at Alfred Rothschild's estate at Halton in Buckinghamshire, which is now owned by RAF Halton
